Reasons to Buy a Honda Hybrid

DropCost UK Internet Offers

It’s official - hybrids have become part of mainstream motoring.  Whereas a decade ago, the choice of hybrid cars on the market was extremely limited, today all the leading car manufacturers have at least one hybrid in their range. One of the pioneering manufacturers in hybrid technology was Honda and the Japanese car manufacturer is still at the cutting edge of hybrid development today.

With so many new car offers around at the moment, it may be hard to decide which kind of car to choose. Some people are put off hybrids as their initial cost is more than for a conventional car, but over its lifetime you will easily make up that initial premium through cheaper running costs.

Hybrids are fuel-efficient because the internal combustion engine is assisted by an electric motor that is powered by its own battery, so they burn less fuel. The process used to recharge the motor’s battery is called regenerative braking. As the driver brakes, energy is captured and stored for later use in the electric motor’s battery.

As well as saving money on fuel, driving a hybrid car can save on other running costs. The engine doesn’t need to work as hard as a conventional car’s engine, so it suffers less wear and tear, and will require less servicing.

Driving a hybrid has eco-friendly benefits, too. Burning less fuel produces fewer emissions, and helps contribute to reducing the damage done to air quality through transport. Low emission cars like hybrids can save you money as they fall into a lower road tax band.

The advantage of buying a Honda hybrid is that, as with all Honda vehicles, you can be sure that you are buying a car that offers great safety features as well as reliability, as well as the years of experience in hybrid technology over other manufacturers.

As at November 2011, the Honda Insight is one of the most affordable hybrid cars on the market today, with prices starting from £16,995. The Insight also offers good fuel economy, with a combined mileage of 64.2 mpg, and carbon dioxide emissions of 101g/km.
